Check Washington County Traffic Tickets

Start with the court named on your Washington County traffic ticket, because that office holds the record. A ticket written by a county deputy may land in a Justice Court, while a Brenham officer's citation usually stays with the municipal court. Pull the court, precinct, citation number, and appearance date straight off the notice. Paying online can close a simple matter, but it never replaces the court's contest or alternative options. Confirm the setting before any deadline passes.

Washington County Traffic Court Records

Washington County Justice Courts in Precincts 1 through 4 handle traffic and other fine-only cases. Cases must be filed in the right precinct. Complaints come from the Sheriff, DPS, constables, and Parks and Wildlife. The Alcoholic Beverage Commission and the Environmental Department also file. Brenham Municipal Court takes city traffic, ordinance, and other Class C matters inside its reach.

Burton takes care. A 2021 city agenda shows its municipal court placed on inactive status. No active Burton docket portal is posted now. Read the ticket instead of assuming a city court. JP4 and the issuing court named on the citation are the practical starting points.

Match Washington County Ticket to Precinct

Each Justice Court precinct in Washington County runs its own office and its own traffic procedures. The JP1 page posts a public docket along with a payment site and the traffic forms drivers need.

Washington County JP1 page with traffic docket and procedure links

That page helps only if JP1 is the court named on your traffic ticket. Its clerk answers 979-277-6260. The JP3 page spells out defensive driving and deferred probation in writing.

Washington County JP3 traffic forms and defensive driving instructions

JP3 posts no online docket search. Ask at the counter, by mail, or by phone at 979-277-6200 extension 5320, and skip email or fax since the court will not take them. The JP4 official page covers the Burton area.

Washington County JP4 Burton office and traffic procedure page

JP4 sits at 402 N Main Street in Burton, and the clerk answers 979-277-6262. Whichever precinct is nearest, deal with the court printed on the citation.

Looking Up Washington County Tickets

Start with your citation number when looking up a Washington County ticket. That number unlocks each court's payment screen. JP1 runs its payments through Washington County Payments, while JP2 and JP4 share a single Forte route. Brenham built its own municipal payment interface. JP3 sticks to official forms plus direct contact with the office. None of these screens is a full traffic docket for the county. Field labels on a payment page can shift. Treat any result there as a payment record rather than a complete case lookup.

Field Where found Purpose
Citation number Printed ticket Primary lookup key
Case or docket number Court notice or docket Tracks the filed court matter
Court, precinct, or city Ticket heading Routes to the right custodian
Date of birth or vehicle data Brenham payment route Used with citation number; do not publish it
Status or setting Court result Shows the next court step where available

When the screen gives you nothing, go straight to the court itself. Call or visit the exact office listed on your ticket. Mail works too. Washington County courts document it for both appearances and traffic requests. One caution before you send anything: never mail cash. JP1 states plainly that personal checks are not accepted.

Washington County Payment Portals

The JP1 payment gateway uses ticket or case information.

Washington County JP1 online payment gateway for ticket information

Paying a Washington County traffic ticket online takes care of it. Treat that payment as giving up the fight. If you plan to contest the ticket, skip the portal.

JP2 and JP4 both route payments through a shared Forte payment page. The court lists there what a transaction covers.

Shared Washington County JP2 and JP4 payment route

That official page proves the route exists, though it will not quote your balance or spell out every field the live form demands; the court keeps those details current. Brenham takes a separate path, linking a municipal citation portal of its own.

To look up a case in the payment system, the city asks for the citation number plus a date of birth or vehicle details. Keep that private information to yourself and share it only inside the official payment process.

Find Washington County Traffic Dates

Your first court date is printed on the citation. The courtesy letter that follows it may carry the date too. For a wider view, JP1 publishes a weekly Court Docket PDF. It lists each docket number along with the time, the charge, the officer, the attorney, and the case status. Treat that PDF as a snapshot rather than a live record. A signed notice always outranks a stale PDF. So does a current court order, or confirmation from the court on the day you check.

Court or precinct Confirms the office that controls the matter.
Citation number The printed ticket key; a later DOCKET # may also appear.
Date and time The appearance or hearing setting.
Charge The filed traffic allegation.
Setting or status May show pretrial, hearing, reset, payment, or disposition.

Brenham wants you to appear in person or by mail within 10 working days of the citation. Calling does not count as an appearance, and it will not stop a warrant from issuing. Even so, you can phone 979-337-7599 to verify the procedure or confirm a current setting.

Pay or Contest Washington County Ticket

Paying a ticket and contesting it are two very different roads. A payment of guilty or no contest can settle the case into a final outcome. Plead not guilty, and the court's hearing path begins; Brenham says such a matter moves toward a jury trial unless the jury is waived, with the court mailing out notice of the setting.

Choice Action Key caution
Pay Use the exact court's approved counter, mail, or online route Payment may resolve the citation as a plea and disposition
Contest Enter the court's not-guilty response by its deadline Do not assume online payment preserves contest rights
Driving safety course Request permission with required proof and payment Wait for approval before taking the course
Deferred disposition Request it in writing or in person where allowed It is not automatic and is not the same as paying
Do not miss the court date. Washington County JP pages and Brenham warn that failure to appear or finish an approved option may lead to a warrant and license-renewal consequences.

Missed a setting? Call the Washington County court handling your traffic ticket right away. Ask the clerk for the current case status and the lawful next step, since an old balance or a stale calendar entry on the court docket may no longer be accurate.

Washington County Defensive Driving Requests

Justice Courts JP1, JP3, and JP4 handle defensive driving requests. The route is local, written, or certified mail. Their instructions require a signed, dated, notarized reply form; proof of Texas liability insurance; a copy of the citation; a self-addressed stamped envelope; and a copy of the driver's license. A $146 cashier's check or money order completes the packet. File everything by the appearance date on the ticket.

Permission comes from the court, not from mailing the packet. Once a Justice Court approves the request, it allows 90 days to finish the course. Brenham sets its own city conditions and costs. Court cost is $144. A school-zone case costs $169. A Brenham request is due within 10 days and needs license and insurance proof. Follow the instructions from the court named on the citation, never another court's form.

Traffic Court Record vs Driving Record

A traffic court record and a driving record are two separate files kept by two different offices. The Washington County Justice Court or Brenham Municipal Court holds the citation case, and its court docket shows the charge, plea, settings, payment, disposition, and judgment. Appeals and certain county-level matters can later land with the County Clerk and County Court at Law.

Record Custodian Contents
Traffic court case Named JP or Brenham Municipal Court Citation, settings, plea, payments, court disposition
Texas driver record State licensing agency Reportable convictions, license status, state consequences

Courts report legally required dispositions to the state system, but the two records are not interchangeable. Ask the court about the case and the licensing agency about its separate file. The Washington County courts list no photo-enforcement docket series.

Washington County Traffic Copy Fees

Copies of Washington County traffic papers cost $1 per page. Certification adds $5 to each document. Since terms can vary, ask the court that holds the ticket before ordering. Payment vendors may also tack on convenience charges. Those amounts differ rather than follow one set fee.

Item Published amount Limit
JP defensive driving request $146 JP1, JP3, and JP4 instructions; confirm before sending
Brenham safety course cost $144; $169 for school-zone case City process and eligibility control
Plain court copy $1 per page Confirm with record custodian
Certified court copy $1 per page plus $5 per document Clerk certification
Card convenience fee Not fixed in research Check the live official payment route

Do not treat an older Brenham fine amount as the current balance owed. The court itself must calculate the live amount on the citation.

Washington County Failure to Appear

Skipping a court date in Washington County brings real risk. The missed setting itself can grow into more trouble. Brenham and the county JP pages both warn of the consequences. The court may issue a warrant. It may also send a notice that blocks license renewal. A payment vendor's screen will not show every court action, so call the issuing court directly. Ask whether a warrant is outstanding. Ask whether a new appearance is required and what paperwork applies now. Washington County has no single fee table covering every warrant-resolution charge, so guess no amount. Also remember that a missed setting does not mean the charge was dismissed.
